The conference room of an American office already has a scheduling system, a video platform and an access policy. The W80 partition wall by Tecno — the maker of Lissoni's Asymmetrical desk — gives all three a place to live. An external monitor from 10 inches handles room booking at the door, the audio-video module carries screens up to 65 inches for videoconferences, and electric-control locks recognize registered users, with an Assa Abloy maglock option holding up to 250 kg complete with panic function. All of it sits inside a wall just 80 mm thick.

The workplace tech does not compromise the architecture. Glazing and panels hang flush with the exterior and appear suspended, five industrial patents protect the core, and certified sound reduction reaches Rw 48 dB for double-glazed fronts and Rw 56 dB for solid walls with sandwich panels, so the quarterly call stays in the room. Designed in 2014 by Daniele Del Missier with Elliot Engineering & Consulting and Centro Progetti Tecno, W80 reaches U.S. projects through La Mercanti with the glass, the wiring and the booking screen specified as one system.

FAQ

How does the room booking integration of W80 work at the door?
An entrance module integrates an external monitor, from 10 inches, on which private offices and meeting rooms can be reserved. Access can be secured through electric-control locks that recognize the registered user, so the booking on the screen and the lock on the door follow the same rule.
Can a 65-inch videoconference screen really hang on a glass partition system?
Yes, on a dedicated structure: the A/V module supports monitors up to 65 inches, and Tecno can develop made-to-measure all-in solutions with monitor, audio and video completely concealed inside the wall. Cabling runs in the cavity, so the conference room shows a screen and no wires.
Which W80 build-up keeps a board meeting private?
Solid walls climb from Rw 38 dB to a certified 56 dB with two sandwich panels, while double acoustic glazing reaches 48 dB. Doors are rated separately, up to 41 dB for the hinged double glazed version, each with a lower acoustic guillotine. Matching wall and door ratings room by room is what actually protects the conversation.
What does switchable LCD glass add to a corner office?
An electric pulse turns the transparent partition into a frosted white surface, so privacy arrives without blinds or curtains. It can be combined with motorized Venetian blinds housed inside the cavity and sliding fabric panels, all operated remotely.
Is W80 a sustainable choice for a LEED-registered project?
Tecno documents recyclable content and contribution to LEED credits: the product is almost completely recyclable, glass accounts for 97.8% of its composition, aluminum carries 30% pre-consumer recycled content, metal parts use VOC-free powder coating and installation produces no waste on site. Project-specific requirements are confirmed case by case on the manufacturer's documentation.

Building the self-running conference room with W80

Five decisions that turn a glass box into a booked, wired and access-controlled meeting room.

Put the calendar on the wall
Specify the entrance module with its external monitor so bookings happen at the door, not in a hallway conversation.
Size the screen to the table
Choose the A/V module early: from a 10-inch display to a 65-inch videoconference screen, the supporting frame and cabling are designed into the wall, not added after.
Give the lock a memory
Select electric-control locks that recognize registered users, with maglock and panic function where security policies demand it.
Rate the room, then the door
Pair the glazing or sandwich build-up with the right tested door; the certified values go from 31 to 56 dB and the weakest element sets the privacy.
Keep every cable in the cavity
Route power and AV wiring through the 80 mm core during installation, so the finished room presents glass, wood and one clean screen.
