Most European partition systems arrive in the US as translations — metric drawings, metric hardware, and a lock cylinder your building's master-key system has never met. Slender by Citterio ships prepared: the datasheet carries every dimension in inches alongside millimetres, and the door system is declared compatible with American locks as well as European and electronic ones. Your access-control vendor and the Italian glazing line can finally sign the same submittal.

The engineering underneath is what Citterio — the Molteni Group partition specialist — does for a living: one extruded aluminium profile family (65.2×42.5 mm, roughly 2 9/16 by 1 11/16 inches) carrying offset single glazing, double glazing and a solid wall, lab-tested up to 47 dB; hinged and sliding doors for meeting rooms with automatic drop seals; curved glass, fluted glass, switchable smart glass; EPD documentation for the glazed builds. In the US projects La Mercanti follows, the partition submittal is where European elegance usually stalls in review — a system that answers in inches gets through.

FAQ

Does Slender work with American lock hardware?
Yes — by declaration, not adaptation: Citterio lists compatibility with European, American and electronic locking systems. Your building's master-key schedule or card-access vendor integrates at order stage, instead of forcing a cylinder swap on an imported door.
Are the specs available in imperial units?
Throughout: the 65.2×42.5 mm profile is documented as 2 9/16 by 1 11/16 inches, glass thicknesses as 13/32, 15/32 and 9/16 inch, and so on. Submittals go to review with both unit systems side by side — no conversion table taped to the shop drawings.
What acoustic ratings do the build-ups reach?
Laboratory-tested values: 34-38 dB for offset single glazing, 42-46 dB for double glazing, and 41 to 47 dB for the solid wall depending on how many steel sheets join the rock wool. Doors test up to 44 dB with a threshold — the number that actually matters in a corner office.
Can the glass be curved or switchable?
Both, from the same profile family: curved glazing for conference rooms that turn a corner without a mullion cluster, and switchable smart glass where privacy needs to arrive at the touch of a button. Fluted and acid-etched glass cover the permanent-privacy cases.
What documentation supports a green building submission?
The EPD issued for both glazed configurations plus Citterio's declared certifications — ISO 9001, ISO 14001, FSC, LEED compliance. La Mercanti packages the manufacturer's documents with the quotation so the sustainability consultant gets them before the deadline, not after.

Getting an Italian partition through a US submittal

Five steps for architects and GCs importing European glazing lines: how to specify Slender so review cycles shrink instead of multiplying.

Issue the spec in both unit systems
Pull the imperial dimensions straight from the datasheet — they are factory-published, not converted by the rep. A submittal that shows 2 9/16 inch profiles next to 65.2 mm passes plan check without a single RFI about units.
Lock the lock strategy early
Decide per door: American cylinder tied to the master-key system, European profile cylinder, or electronic access. Slender accepts all three, but the choice belongs in the door schedule before fabrication — not in a field memo after.
Match build-ups to the acoustic consultant's report
Map each partition type to the tested values — single glazing to 38 dB, double to 46, solid to 47 — and attach the lab reports. Tested numbers close acoustic comments faster than any narrative paragraph.
Coordinate the drywall interface
Where glazing meets gypsum walls, specify the Fly-By trim and show it on the details: it conceals the drywall edge and ends the argument about who finishes that joint — the glazier or the drywall sub.
File the EPD with the LEED package
Request the EPD and company certifications at purchase order and route them to the sustainability consultant immediately. Environmental documentation that travels with procurement never becomes a closeout emergency.
