American pool decks and spa floors live under a design curfew: safety ratings usually mean plain, industrial-looking tile. Dintorni lifts it — the datasheet declares R11, DIN 51097 class C and DCOF 0.74 (Pendulum 55 dry/45 wet) on the full 20.5×20.5 format, patterns included. That means the wet zone can wear Dama checks or Bandiere flags and still out-grip the 0.42 code threshold by a wide margin. Frost resistance takes the same package to roof terraces and outdoor showers.

The design is Inga Sempé's newest for Mutina (2025): glazed porcelain squares in five solids — Verde Chiaro, Verde Scuro, Azzurro, Blu, Terracotta — and three patterns, each in three light temperatures (Neve, Sole, Ombra), plus the Isola mix. Stain class 5 and class A chemical resistance handle sunscreen and pool chemistry; V2 minimal variation keeps large decks even. And the Raccordo — a glossy extruded profile — coves floor to wall, caps wainscots or becomes a soap-shelf. 20% recycled declared for LEED 4.1.

FAQ

How do these traction numbers compare with typical safety tile?
They match or beat it - while carrying a pattern: DCOF 0.74 is far above the 0.42 threshold most specs cite, R11 is ramp-tested for greasy-wet conditions, class C is the top barefoot rating, and Pendulum reads 55 dry/45 wet, with an AS/NZS P3 to boot. Crucially, all of it is declared on the full 20.5 format including the patterned pieces - so the deck does not switch to a duller product where the design should be. Safety tile that people photograph: not a common category.
Will color and pattern survive pool chemistry and sun?
The declared numbers say yes: class A resistance to acids, alkalis and household chemicals covers chlorinated splash and cleaning cycles; stain resistance is class 5, the top grade, for sunscreen and margarita accidents; and the color is fired glaze - UV cannot bleach it. Frost resistance (no visible alteration) plus 0.07% absorption handle winterized decks in freeze-thaw climates. V2 minimal variation keeps a big deck looking even, order after order.
What roles do Neve, Sole and Ombra play on one property?
They tune the same pattern to different zones: Neve - the palest - brightens covered or north-facing areas; Sole warms the main deck; Ombra grounds bars and shaded lounges. One design language, three intensities, so a resort or amenity floor reads coherent instead of patchworked. The Isola mix adds a shuffled version for transition zones, and the five solids (Terracotta and Azzurro especially) frame the patterns Mediterranean-style.
What is the Raccordo good for in a wet area?
It solves the junction everyone ignores: an extruded glossy profile (Caramel or Nero) that coves the floor-to-wall corner - the curve that makes hose-down cleaning actually work - or, rotated, caps a half-height wainscot and offers a small shelf for soap and shampoo at the outdoor shower. It is a decorative extruded profile, not a floor tile; its glossy surface asks for fine-grain grout and minimal abrasives. Detail-grade thinking from a collection that swims.
What documentation supports specification?
Declared: the full slip package above, stain class 5, chemical class A, frost resistance, 0.07% absorption, and 20% pre-consumer recycled content per the LEED 4.1 declaration (July 2025 - the collection is Mutina's newest); EPD and SVHC documents on request through La Mercanti. Non-rectified format with transparently declared calibres - request in advance, La Mercanti manages it at order. Sample costs are fully credited at order confirmation.

Designing the wet zone without the curfew: Dintorni in five steps

Five moves for US architects and hospitality teams: Sempé's 2025 patterns from spa floor to pool deck - traction declared, style intact.

Put pattern where feet are wet
R11, class C, DCOF 0.74 on the full format: shower floors, pool surrounds and spa circulation can carry Dama or Bandiere outright.
Zone with the three lights
Neve for covered shade, Sole for the sun deck, Ombra for the bar: one pattern, three intensities, one coherent property.
Frame with solids
Terracotta and Azzurro fields frame the patterned zones; Verde Chiaro and Blu cool the lounges. Five solids, V2-even.
Detail with the Raccordo
Cove the wet corners, cap the wainscot, shelf the outdoor shower: one glossy profile, three details - fine-grain grout on it.
Order by boxes and calibre
16 pcs/box (0.67 sqm), Isola 20, Raccordo by the linear meter; calibre requested in advance - La Mercanti coordinates it with freight.
