American offices keep rediscovering the same lesson: once you frame and sheetrock a partition, the daylight is gone for good. Tally takes the opposite bet. Michael Anastassiades designed for Mutina an extruded terracotta brick - 24×24×10 cm - whose square face is sliced into sections: one central line for Wide, four for Narrow. The outer frame measures half the inner lines, so any stacking pattern keeps perfectly even spacing. The name comes from tally marks - «a numerical alphabet with a visual dimension», says the designer, who trained as a civil engineer before turning to design.

Functionally it is zoning without darkness: partitions up to 13 feet (4 m) on the manufacturer's anchoring schemes, seven laying patterns, a dedicated solvent-free organic adhesive rated EC 1 plus, and an official installation video. One color - the raw Argilla of fired clay - values declared to masonry standards (absorption 12.5%, horizontal loads C2), plus a frost-rated Outdoor edition (F2, 2025) for patios and courtyards. The hospitality world noticed first: an Hospitality Design Award in Las Vegas, category Custom Art + Installations.

Reception backdrops, executive-floor thresholds, coffee-bar screens your team leans against - La Mercanti delivers Tally across the US as a project: heights checked against the anchoring schemes and local codes, the 17.36 bricks per square meter counted from your elevation, VOC A+ and LEED 4.1 papers riding along for the sustainability consultant.

FAQ

How high can I build with Tally - and does code allow it?

The manufacturer rates walls up to 4 meters / about 13 feet, tied to anchoring schemes: two-side fixing up to h250×100 cm, three-side up to h400×300 cm, two-side up to h400. Local building codes always govern on top of that - La Mercanti reviews your elevation against both before confirming the order.

Wide or Narrow - how do I choose between the two bricks?

By how much screen you want. Wide reads open - one line per brick; Narrow reads dense - four sections. The frame-to-line geometry keeps spacing identical however you mix them, so many projects run both: Narrow at eye level for privacy, Wide above for light. Physical samples settle it faster than renders - we ship them.

Can Tally live outside - patios, pool courtyards, entries?

That is what Tally Outdoor (2025) is for: same brick, declared frost class F2 under UNI EN 772-22 for freeze-thaw exposure. The standard collection stays indoors, restrooms included. Tell us where the wall stands and we will spec the right version with the anchoring scheme to match.

What does the install actually involve for my contractor?

Masonry-simple work: bricks bond with Mutina's dedicated organic adhesive - solvent-free, rated EC 1 plus - with drips avoided and excess trimmed once dry. Mutina publishes a step-by-step installation video, and the anchoring schemes plus instructions arrive with the crates.

Which documents support LEED and healthy-building review?

Tally carries a certified VOC A+ emission class, a declared 10% contribution under LEED 4.1, and HPD, SDS, BPD3 and Declaration of Contents files on request. La Mercanti bundles the paperwork with the quote so procurement and sustainability review can run in parallel.
