Let's discuss your project

Bespoke: size, colour, finish

No surface in an office works harder than the front desk: deliveries, badges, coffee cups, a hundred handshakes a day. Lux is built for that arithmetic — the counter's melamine finishes carry an antibacterial surface, declared by Bralco across the palette, from black and titanium grey to Lux walnut and natural oak. Cleaning is part of the spec too: neutral detergent and a soft cloth keep the counter presentable through the busiest week, with dedicated care rules for veneer and glass.

The design, by Gianantonio Perin and Monica Fernandes — the hands behind Bralco's Arche executive desk —, keeps the welcome warm while the engineering stays cool. Perimeter LED light at 4000 K runs inside the steel shelf supports, dimmable by zones from a button tray. Widths span three modular ranges up to 400 cm — with a three-stage electric column on the sit-stand version —, shelves land at 111.2 cm in melamine, veneer or glass-ceramic, and the lockable drawer units bracketed under the top double as anti-tip ballast for the whole structure — safety engineered in, not bolted on.

Power is where American lobbies need it: top access units with mains sockets plus USB A and USB C, cable vertebrae below. La Mercanti ships Lux to US projects with the composition drawn, finishes fixed and everything confirmed in writing — the desk that greets everyone should never be the weak point of the office.

FAQ

Are the Lux surfaces really antibacterial?
The melamine palette of the counter is declared by Bralco with an antibacterial surface — across finishes from black and white to titanium grey, Lux walnut and the oaks. Combined with the published easy-clean rules, it is a front desk specified for traffic, not just for looks.
How do you clean a Lux counter day to day?
Bralco publishes the protocol: neutral liquid detergent on a soft damp cloth for melamine, no abrasives or chlorine; specific care for veneer; standard glass cleaner for the glass parts. Pencil marks on melamine even come off with an eraser.
What keeps the counter stable without fixing it to the floor?
The lockable drawer units: bracketed to the underside of the top, they act as anti-tip ballast for the whole structure — an engineering answer built into a piece you would order anyway.
Which power options can the desk carry?
Aluminium top access units with blocks of three mains sockets plus USB A and USB C, or two sockets with USB A/C; below the top, fabric vertebrae, sheet-metal risers and chromed-wire guides keep the cabling ordered.
Can we get the lighting bright for mornings and softer later?
Yes — the LEDs are dimmable by zones from the button tray: side lights, centre lights and the lower horizontal blade are controlled separately, so the counter matches the hour without rewiring anything.

Specifying a front desk that survives real traffic

Five checks for choosing a reception counter in a high-traffic US office — with Lux as the worked example.

Count the touches
Estimate daily visitors, deliveries and badge exchanges: the busier the desk, the more surface hygiene and cleanability weigh in the spec.
Read the cleaning sheet
Ask for the manufacturer's care protocol before choosing finishes — Lux publishes rules per material, from melamine to veneer and glass.
Check the ballast
Verify how the counter stays stable: on Lux, the lockable drawer units bracket under the top and act as anti-tip ballast.
Wire for today's devices
Specify USB A and USB C at the top access, with vertebrae and risers below — visitors and staff both arrive with cables.
Fix the drawing
Close on a dimensioned composition with finishes and light zones, confirmed in writing before production.
