Among the five certifications DVO, the maker of the Planeta desk, declares on the Qubo product sheet, one has a US address. GREENGUARD UL 2818 is the Underwriters Laboratories standard for chemical emissions from furniture, the one an American facility manager or a sustainability consultant already knows by name. Italian suppliers usually arrive with European acronyms; here the paperwork speaks the language of the building it is going into, together with CARB Phase 2 for the composite wood, FSC, the Italian CAM criteria and UNI EN 15372.

The furniture behind the paperwork is a modular system of reception desks and counters designed by Antonio Morello in 2012. Straight modules come in six widths, 33.9 to 81.1 in (86 to 206 cm), 33.1 in deep (84 cm) and 44.3 in high (112.5 cm); a two-way 90° corner turns the run and right- or left-hand end modules close it. The accessible module sits at 29.1 in (74 cm) with a 45.3 in (115 cm) deep top for a seated visitor. Worktops are 1 in (25 mm) melamine with a 0.08 in (2 mm) ABS edge; eleven melamine finishes plus a gloss white laminate for the counter top. Optional welcome top, anodized aluminum plinth and an LED bar with touch dimmer whose power supply accepts 100-240 V. Warranty of 8 years, stated by DVO.

La Mercanti ships Qubo to the US with the GREENGUARD, CARB and FSC documents attached to the quotation, so the sustainability consultant can file them without a second request. Offices, hotel lobbies and other reception areas use the same series in different compositions; the module list changes, the certificates stay the same.

FAQ

How wide can a Qubo reception desk be?
Straight modules run from 33.9 to 81.1 in (86 to 206 cm) in six steps, and they join through a 2 × 2 in (50 × 50 mm) middle column. The six pre-set compositions go further: composition 5, a U-shape with interchangeable sides, reaches 191.7 in (487 cm) overall. Beyond that, Qubo is composed module by module on the plan.
Does Qubo have a lower section for seated visitors?
Yes. The module with conversation top is 29.1 in (74 cm) high and 45.3 in (115 cm) deep, 39.4 or 55.1 in wide (100 or 140 cm), with its own end and upper side panels. It sits in line with the 44.3 in (112.5 cm) standard modules.
What finishes are available on Qubo?
Six M1 melamines (white, light gray, light oak, natural oak, walnut, dark oak), five M2 soft-touch melamines (matte white, taupe, graphite, matte green, matte black) and a gloss white laminate for the counter top with a two-color white/aluminum edge. The 81.1 in (206 cm) module is not offered in walnut or dark oak.
How is the LED lighting of Qubo powered?
The 21.7 in (55 cm) bar under the counter top has a touch on-off-dimmer on one side and a 74.8 in (1.9 m) cable to the power supply; the bar for the welcome top comes with its own supply. The 15 W supply kit accepts 100-240 V input, so it works on a US outlet without a separate transformer.
Can Qubo be laid out in 3D before ordering?
Yes. DVO makes Qubo available in the pCon.planner configurator; La Mercanti builds the composition on the lobby plan and sends the rendered layout with the module codes, so the project team reviews the same file that becomes the order.

How to plan the accessible module of Qubo on a US lobby

The lower module of Qubo by DVO Office is 29.1 in high and 45.3 in deep: where to put it, and what to check, before the order leaves for Italy.

Mark the approach route on the plan
Trace how a visitor reaches the Qubo counter from the entrance; the accessible module goes where that route arrives, not at the far end of the run.
Pick the width of the Qubo module
Choose between 39.4 and 55.1 in (100 and 140 cm) according to how many people stop there; the 45.3 in depth is the same for both.
Reserve the knee space
The Qubo conversation top is 29.1 in high: keep the area under it free of the multipurpose box and cable ducts so a seated visitor can pull in.
Order the dedicated side panels
The accessible module of Qubo uses its own end panel and upper side panel, right or left: note the side on the plan so La Mercanti codes them correctly.
Ask La Mercanti for the check on the layout
Send the plan with the module marked; La Mercanti verifies clearances and module codes on the Qubo composition before the quotation.
