Modular lounge seating is usually sold as a promise: «any configuration you like». Dorothea is sold as a list. LaCividina publishes the compositions with codes — DOR02 through DOR21 — each with its own dimensions, in widths of 200, 240, 285 and 325 cm and depths of 94, 100 and 150. Every module inside them carries a number and a hand, right or left.
For anyone writing an FF&E schedule of a waiting area, that is the difference between specifying and hoping. The design is by Andrea Steidl, 2023: nine elements — five seats, four backrests — that meet along the tangency of their curves and form what the manufacturer calls colonies.

Declared concept: inspired by Lithops, the succulents known as living stones — Dorothea is one of the species; a planar, asymmetric seat wrapped by a sculptural backrest that acts as the load-bearing element of the system
Backrest: thinner at the centre, growing in thickness towards the ends, embracing the upholstered body
Modules: nine elements — five seats and four backrests in different sizes — combined beyond linear modularity: following the tangency of their curves, elements gather into colonies that occupy space in more than one direction
Catalogue compositions: from DOR02 to DOR21, in widths of 78.7, 94.5, 112.2 and 128 in and depths of 37, 39.4 and 59.1 in; every module carries its own code and its own hand, right or left
Structure: solid fir and beech, masonite panel, elastic webbing
Padding: flame-retardant non-deforming polyurethane foam of differentiated densities, polyester fibre
Seams: reinforced with a carbon fibre backing
Frame: reinforced for use in public areas
Exposed woods: natural ash or graphite-stained ash
Options: electrical connection and USB port on request at extra cost; extra cushions; upholstery in the client's own fabric (plain colour, 55.1 in width) or leather, sample required
