Andrea Steidl trained on pieces that never reach mass production

Most designers learn on catalogue items; Andrea Steidl spent years on the work that stays outside the catalogue — limited editions, temporary installations, one-off site-specific commissions. He ran all of it as Creative Manager inside Patricia Urquiola's studio, a role he held until 2016 with the entire design department reporting to him, before setting up his own practice with Raquel Pacchini. His degree in industrial design comes from Milan Polytechnic, where he now teaches.

Four pieces at LaCividina carry his name today: Dorothea, Keisho, Nap and Suiseki. La Mercanti ships and installs this Italian upholstery house for American lobbies and waiting areas — a designer schooled on one-offs brings that level of attention to something you can actually order.
