Most executive chairs are padded in patches. The Valea Soft takes one decision instead: a single padded polyurethane cushion laid over the whole seat and back, framed by a visible perimeter stitch. ICF calls the result an outright invitation to relax, and the declared brief is confidence: a chair built, in the maker's words, to hold its own in any room. Under the cushion, elastic webbing straps across a steel tube frame do the carrying — sofa construction, office posture.

The collection splits in two families. Valea Chair presses fabric or leather onto flexible polyurethane for its signature ribbed cover — meeting chair, visitor chair and low conversation versions — while the Soft family takes the corner office. Backs come low, high or with headrest, seats run 16.1 to 24 in high, widths 20.5 to 28 in, with six metal finishes from polished to bronze and a stacking visitor chair for board days. La Mercanti ships the collection across the United States with fabric and leather samples ahead of the order — judge the stitching by hand before you sign.

FAQ

What designs make up the ribbed family?
Four: the generous profile at 20.1 in deep, the slim one at 18.5 in, the low conversation design with its 16.1 in seat, and the visitor chair on a flexing steel tube. All share one skeleton, one base range and one upholstery card.
Does the low conversation model adjust in height?
No — by design. It sits fixed at 16.1 in (17.3 in in the cushioned family), swivels multidirectionally without a gas column and rests on a four-star base with glides: a chair for talking across a low table, not for desk work.
Can I order the chairs without armrests?
On the swivel models, yes: the closed die-cast armrests are optional, and dropping them narrows the chair from 24 to 20.5 in — one more seat at a crowded table. The visitor version keeps its plastic armrests as part of the tube structure.
Who can service the gas column?
Trained personnel only, per the user manual. The column itself meets EN 16955:2017 and swaps out without touching any other component of the chair.
Which metal finishes are available?
Six: polished (47), chromed (55), and powder-coated white (100), black (115), bronze (120) and silk grey (R22). Frame, base and armrests ship in one matching code, down to the chromed zama caps on the casters.

Reading the Valea range in inches

Five numbers turn a US floor plan into a correct Valea order, no conversions left to chance.

Start from the width
Allow 24 in per seat with armrests, 20.5 in without — divide your table lengths before fixing quantities.
Move to the depths
20.1 in on the generous profile, 18.5 in on the slim one, 17.3 in on its padded twin: tighter rooms take the smaller number.
Set the seat heights
Fixed models sit between 16.1 and 20.9 in; adjustable ones travel 17.7 to 24 in — assign each room its bracket.
Check the total heights
From 29.9 in on the lowest model to 52.4 in with headrest: verify backs against sight lines, windows and shelving.
Confirm on samples
La Mercanti sends fabric, leather and finish samples with dimensional sheets — validate the critical numbers on the plan before signing.
