American offices learned to stand a decade ago — everywhere except behind the last door on the floor. Sit-stand desks ran the open plan while the executive office kept its furniture bolted at 29 inches, as if seniority meant sitting still. Hito ends that split: it brings the adjustable top to the executive suite without dressing the room down.
IVM Office built it with Robin Rizzini, a Genoa-born designer who came up through Antonio Citterio's Milan studio and took the Compasso d'Oro in 2014; Hito is his first designer desk for the company. Under the 30 mm top, four two-stage columns rise in synchrony on invisible bearings, watched by anti-collision sensors, drawing 0.1 W on standby; a sliding keypad rides the right edge of the top. The steel cable bay beneath keeps power and data off the floor, so the desk moves and nothing else does.
The materials hold the executive register: Canaletto walnut or eucalyptus veneer with a thick solid-wood edge, water-based lacquers, or FENIX tops that heal their own micro-scratches — in Collection 024 shades from Red Namib to Black Ingo, run tone-on-tone with the legs. Credenzas at two heights, round tables and an upholstered bench furnish the rest of the room. La Mercanti ships the system stateside with the finish schedule and CARB 2 papers in the same folder.
