Some designer desks furnish an office; a few take possession of it. Euclideo, a luxury executive desk, belongs to the second kind: a top that shoots out like a cantilevered blade, visually free of support on one side, landing on a single faceted block on the other. i4Mariani calls the effect suspended, apparently free from the laws of gravity — and at 280 by 230 centimeters, the illusion has real wingspan.
Ferruccio Laviani drew it in 2019 and described the method himself: two volumes in contrast — work surface against container — faceted solids that interpenetrate until the shapes themselves delimit the functions. The block underneath is not a pedestal but a full return cabinet with four drawers and a door unit; the steel frame is painted black, and even the steel element under the top comes covered in leather.
Finishes speak the same language: ebony-type veneer as standard, Macassar ebony or Santos rosewood on request, RAL lacquer, or tops in saddle leather with visible stitching — sixty leather typologies before you even reach the hundred-plus soft leathers. La Mercanti ships Euclideo to US projects in right- or left-handed versions, with the electrified top bay configured at order and drawings downloadable from the article page.
