On Asymmetrical Meeting nobody hunts for the outlet. Tecno puts the power boxes under the ends of the table and closes them with the head tops themselves: the end section slides, the sockets are there, the laptop is plugged in, the section slides back and the top is one surface again. The rectangular conference tables come pre-arranged with Bticino Interlink Office boxes, the cables leave through the slot where the top sections meet and drop inside one of the two bases to the floor. There is no grommet, no tower and no lid in a contrasting color; the only line on the top is the aluminum joint, and it is the line the cables use.

Lissoni's 2006 drawing for Tecno starts from a top that refuses to be a rectangle and two solid supports that refuse to be a pair. Sizes: rectangular 149.5 × 63, 177.25 × 71 or 216.5 × 78.75 in, 29.5 or 26.5 in high; oval Ø90.5 or Ø118 in on one off-center cylinder; round Ø63 or Ø71 in, one-piece top, no metal frame underneath. Finishes: fourteen lacquer colors in matt or gloss, ten wood veneers, lacquered bases that match the top or deliberately don't. The Asymmetrical executive desk, side cabinet included, and the Solenoids side tables round out the range. For U.S. boardrooms La Mercanti confirms the socket accessories with the order, because the boxes are fitted in Italy and the sockets are chosen for the room.

FAQ

What sizes does the rectangular table come in?
Three: 149.5 × 63 in, 177.25 × 71 in and 216.5 × 78.75 in, each at 29.5 in high or, in the low version, 26.5 in. The two bases of Asymmetrical Meeting stand 88.8, 103.6 or 134.5 in apart, off-center, which is why Tecno asks you to check the drawing before placing the floor outlet.
Where do the cables rise?
Inside one of the two bases. The floor outlet sits under the base footprint, the cables climb inside the solid support and reach the boxes under the top; from the top they exit along the slot between the sections. Nothing runs outside the Asymmetrical Meeting structure.
Is the Ø90.5 in oval powered?
No. Of the two ovals only the Ø118 in is arranged for electrification with an openable top; the Ø90.5 in oval and the Ø63 and Ø71 in round tables come without boxes and, in the case of the round ones, without any metal frame. An Asymmetrical Meeting oval with power is the Ø118.
What is the Solenoid?
A small side table born to accompany the series: Ø16.5 in and 23 in high, or 23.6 × 16.5 in and 19 in high, with a back-painted low-iron tempered glass top in white or black and a structure painted in the same color. Tecno places them next to Asymmetrical Meeting in lounges and waiting areas.
Which company certifications does Tecno hold?
ISO 9001 for quality, ISO 14001 for environmental management and ISO 45001 for health and safety, plus the FSC license FSC-C171395 printed in the catalog colophon. They certify the company; Tecno declares no product test standard for Asymmetrical Meeting.

How to bring Asymmetrical Meeting into a building that is already occupied

Five steps to move a conference table of up to 1,587 lb packed into a working office floor without stopping the floor.

Book the freight elevator for the crate
Asymmetrical Meeting travels in one crate of up to 162 cu ft and 1,587 lb packed; give the building the crate size and weight, and the elevator slot and the floor protection follow.
Pick the hour from the corridor
The top of Asymmetrical Meeting is 2.95 in of lacquer or veneer and crosses the floor on its packing; choose a time when the corridor to the room is empty, before the day starts or after it ends.
Uncrate inside the room
Unpack Asymmetrical Meeting where it will live: the two bases come out first and go on the marks taken from the Tecno drawing, then the top sections are laid on them.
Wire before the last section goes down
With the boxes reachable, the electrician fits the Bticino accessories and routes the cables into the base; only then are the head tops of Asymmetrical Meeting closed and tested.
Hand over against the order line
La Mercanti's crew checks Asymmetrical Meeting against the order line — size, height, top, base, accessories — and photographs the top before the room is used, so handover and warranty start on the same date.
