On the eco-leather version of Bellagio and Narciso the writing surface is made of three panels, 3/4 in thick, in ivory or dark brown. The middle one moves. Pull it toward you and it slides over the undertop, opening a slot that leads to a storage tray built into the desk itself: pens, a phone, the papers you do not want on the table when the door opens. Push it back and the I Rovereschi top is flat again, three leathers in a row over a walnut or oak edge. No drawer front, no handle, nothing that shows from the visitor's chair.
Architect Stefania Tognoloni drew the three collections for Della Rovere's thirtieth year, and the price list shows the whole floor: modern desks 78 3/4, 86 5/8 or 94 1/2 in wide, an external return that brings the depth to 86 5/8 in, a round meeting table 47 1/4 in across, conference tables up to 149 5/8 in, bookcases with ribbed glass and LED light, and a range of staff desks, Consonanze, in matching materials. La Mercanti has the finish sample approved before the desk crosses the Atlantic, so that the leather on the sliding panel matches the one you touched.
