American executive floors love marble and hate what it weighs, chips and costs to move. Spike answers with a technical material: a white Calacatta or brown zebra marble-finish HPL top over a structure of thick steel blades. Frezza’s own catalogue puts that combination on the 25th floor of a Chicago tower, black steel against exposed pipes — the stone look, none of the stone logistics. Designed by Giorgio Topan, the desk — also with a glass top — keeps its proportions light while the steel does the carrying.

The program behind it is complete: an executive desk in three widths up to 220 cm, a return-top version, a hanging desk carried by its service unit, plus meeting tables that assemble by modules, a Mediawall table for video calls and matching coffee tables. La Mercanti specifies the HPL where the look has to survive real use — coffee cups, contracts, moving crews — and the veneer or glass versions where the brief calls for warmth instead.

FAQ

How does the marble look hold up to daily use?
The top is HPL, a high-pressure laminate with a Calacatta white or zebra brown marble finish: a technical surface made for work, not a slab. You get the boardroom look with the weight, handling and maintenance of a laminate.
Which structure colors pair with the marble-finish tops?
Frezza’s own Chicago staging uses black embossed steel for an industrial read; white, chrome and bronze are the other three options. All four carry the same thick steel blade construction.
What sizes does the Spike desk come in?
Widths of 180, 200 and 220 cm, 90 cm deep, 75 cm high — plus a return-top version that extends the depth to 190 cm and a hanging version supported by the service unit.
Is there a matching table for video meetings?
Yes: the Mediawall pairs a trapezoidal hanging table with a 180 cm tall panel that integrates the monitor and hides the wiring, sized for smaller rooms where remote calls actually happen.
Can the conference table match the desk finish?
The meeting tables share the same tops — marble-finish HPL included — and grow by modules to 320 or 420 cm, with smoked glass extensions and a black central insert with plugs.

How to spec the marble look without the marble problems

Five decisions between the rendering and the purchase order.

Choose your vein
White Calacatta for light floors, zebra brown for dark schemes.
Ground it in steel
Black embossed for industrial, bronze for warmth, chrome or white for light.
Size the desk to the office
180, 200 or 220 cm wide; add the return top for a working wing.
Extend it to the table
Modular tops reach 320 or 420 cm in the same finish.
Plan the video room
The Mediawall table handles the monitor and hides the cables.
