Most executive desks make you choose: wood or leather. Kefa offers a third answer — a top partly in veneer and partly covered in saddle leather or leather, specified that way from the factory. The writing zone gets the material you touch all day; the rest of the surface keeps the grain. It is one object, not a pad laid on a board.

Everything else follows the same logic of controlled contrast: veined black walnut or titanium oak type as standard veneers, aluminium handles in titanium colour, black lacquered interiors. Tops come at 220 and 240 cm on 100 deep, 240 and 260 on 120, all 6 cm thick, with a working height of 74. Matteo Nunziati drew the collection in 2017, taking, as the catalogue says, from the rationalist work of Giuseppe Terragni. La Mercanti runs US executive projects from samples through installation.

FAQ

Is the split top a factory option or a custom job?
It is listed by the manufacturer: the desk is available in veneer, in saddle leather or leather, and in a version partly in veneer and partly covered. Being a factory option matters — the transition between the two materials is engineered into the panel rather than improvised on site.
Where does the leather section usually sit?
Over the working zone, in front of the chair, so the hands and forearms meet leather while the rest of the surface stays wood. The exact split is part of the specification and should be drawn before ordering, together with the position of the power box.
Does saddle leather behave differently from leather?
Yes. Saddle leather is firmer and takes visible stitching; leather is softer and is used without it. The catalogue photographs show both: a CF 207 saddle leather pad with stitching, and PX Cara Cara leather without.
Can the cabinets repeat the same combination?
They can. Tops, sides and fronts of the cabinets are all available veneered or covered, so a room can run wood fronts against leather sides, or the reverse. It is the simplest way to keep variety without adding a third material.
How are lead times and documents handled?
Datasheets and drawings are downloadable from the product page, samples ship on request, and delivery dates are confirmed in writing at order confirmation.

How to specify a two-material desk top

Five steps to get wood and leather onto one surface without it looking like an accident.

Draw the working zone first
Decide where the chair sits and how much surface the hands actually use. That area is the candidate for leather; everything else can stay wood.
Pick the wood, then the hide
Veined black walnut or titanium oak type as standard. The leather is chosen against the wood, never before it.
Decide stitched or plain
Saddle leather carries visible stitching; leather is used without. The seam line is a design decision, not a detail.
Place the power box
One openable box sits in the top. Locate it inside the wood section or at the edge of the leather, before the panel is cut.
Review a large sample
Small swatches lie about grain and hide. La Mercanti supplies samples big enough to judge the pairing, with the cost credited in full against the order.
