Turn a One desk on its side and you understand how it stands. Two panelled sides, in walnut, hide or stone, are joined by crossbars in mirror-polished stainless steel: they carry the top, they are shaped to hold the modesty panel, and their profile leaves room for the power and data cables to run out of sight. Codutti describes the steel as the part that gives the furniture its light and, with its solidity, supports the structural elements. That is why a top can be a sheet of 0.5 in extra-clear glass held by stainless flanges: the glass shows the beam instead of hiding it.

Around the beam, One becomes a whole contemporary office: luxury executive desks in four widths up to 94.5 in, a supporting drawer unit with a hidden push-pull door, extensions with a laptop bay and a bag bay, open bookcases on panelled feet, modular cabinets that take a built-in fridge or a digital safe, modular conference tables for 10 or 14 people, a standing conversation counter, waiting tables, leather chairs and sofas. Codutti states a five-year warranty in the 2025 price list. For US deliveries La Mercanti has the tops and the stone sides crated separately from the steel frames, so the beam that holds everything arrives without a scratch on its mirror finish.

FAQ

Is the stone real, and where does it come from?
It is Piasentina stone, quarried in north-east Italy and worked by craftsmen. The white flame-shaped veining forms naturally and is different on every slab, so the stone sides of two desks are never identical; Codutti calls this the mark that makes each composition exclusive.
How big is the leather writing area on the walnut top?
It depends on the desk: 35.4 × 26 in on the 70.9 and 78.7 in desks, 47.2 × 26 in on the 86.6 and 94.5 in ones. The hide is inlaid flush into the walnut, in one of the seventeen Rainbow colors, so the hand never meets an edge; the glass top has no insert.
What is inside the extension next to the desk?
It depends on the modules you order: a three-drawer unit, cabinets with single or double doors, a bay for the computer, a bay for a bag, on glass or black melamine shelves. Doors for the computer bay come with or without a lock.
Can the cabinets stand in the middle of the room?
Yes: the 0.3 in backs are finished like the sides, so a row of cabinets can divide a room. The exception is the cabinet that houses the fridge, which has a vented back and goes against a wall with a 2 in gap; single cabinets with file drawers must also be secured to a wall.
Does the warranty cover the leather and the stone?
Codutti states five years on the whole collection in the 2025 price list, under its general supply conditions. The catalogue asks buyers to accept small differences in the shade of the leather, in the stitching and in the stone veining as the signature of hand work, not as defects.

How to place the One cabinet that holds the fridge

The fridge cabinet of the One collection has a vented back and a few rules of its own: here is how to order it and where to put it.

Choose the door count first
The One price list offers two built-in fridges: one for a double-door cabinet, with a side glass shelf, and one for a single-door cabinet. Decide which cabinet width you are dedicating to it before you look at the room.
Name the cabinet on the order
Codutti asks you to identify, on the order itself, which One cabinet receives the fridge: the factory prepares that cabinet's back with ventilation openings, and only that one. A fridge cannot be added later to a cabinet built with a finished back.
Keep it off the middle of the room
Every other One cabinet has a 0.3 in finished back and can be placed mid-room. The fridge cabinet cannot: its vented back has to face a wall, and the room layout should account for that before the cabinets are lined up.
Leave 2 inches behind it
Position the cabinet against the wall with a gap of at least 2 in between the back and the plaster, so the compressor breathes. The adjustable feet of One cabinets, set from inside, level it once the gap is fixed.
Bring power to that spot
The fridge needs an outlet behind or beside the cabinet, so the electrician's plan should mark it. La Mercanti sends the cabinet position and the outlet point to the site with the delivery schedule, so the One cabinet is plugged in on the day it is set.
