Pick up most office desks and the legs are hollow. On the Fattore Alpha executive desk, Archiutti makes a point of the opposite: the catalogue describes a base made entirely of solid aluminum, a detail the company presents as the refinement of the whole composition. You feel it before you see it — in the way the desk sits on the floor, in the weight a corner office is supposed to have, without the bulk of a traditional executive piece.

The rest of the system, designed by ambostudio and Grazia Azzolin, keeps that discipline. Executive tops of 78.7 or 86.6 in (200 or 220 cm) in white melamine, Canaletto walnut, cooked oak, Fenix or metallized glass; the same frame becomes a managerial desk, an L-shaped composition with a 78.7 in supporting return, an operative workstation from 47.2 to 78.7 in wide, a bench for two, four or six, a conference table up to 126 in (320 cm) or a low table at 16.5 in (42 cm). One extrusion, one family, every room of the floor.

Ask La Mercanti to quote the Fattore Alpha executive desk for a US office and the solid base appears where it belongs — on the specification line, next to return, pedestal and conference table, never in the small print.

FAQ

How big are the executive desks, and can a return be added?
Two sizes: 78.7 or 86.6 in wide by 35.4 in deep, 28.7 in high. A supporting return of 78.7 x 23.6 in at 25.6 in high fits on the left or right, either with two closed sides or prepared to rest on the pedestal, which then becomes part of the structure.
What holds the corners of the frame together?
The vertical legs and the perimeter frame are both aluminum extrusions, and at each corner they interlock through PET elements rather than metal on metal. The catalogue speaks of precision in the joint of the metal trestle; the price list explains how it is achieved.
Why does the price list say 160 nominal equals 160.7 actual?
Because the top sits inside a frame: actual length and depth are 0.28 in (7 mm) larger than the nominal size on every table. For a tight alcove or a corridor of returns it is the number to draw with.
Is there a standing-height table for the meeting area?
Yes. The catalogue shows the Alpha meeting Multilinea table in its high version next to a white screen-holder cabinet, so a quick meeting around a monitor has its own furniture without leaving the collection.
Which pedestal goes with the executive desk?
One of two: three drawers plus a stationery tray, or one drawer plus a file drawer and tray. Both measure 16.5 x 22.4 x 22.8 in, carry an anti-tilt device and come with a veneer or melamine structure to match the desk.

How to roll out Fattore Alpha across several US locations

One collection, several offices in different states: the order of decisions that keeps the floors consistent and the shipments simple.

Fix the Fattore Alpha finish card first
Choose one top finish and one structure color for all Fattore Alpha desks — walnut with black, white with anodized — and write it into the standard for every location before any local variation.
Define the three roles
Decide which stations are executive, which are managerial and which are operative benches, so each office receives the same three configurations in different quantities.
Prepare one specification sheet
Have La Mercanti issue a single specification with sizes in inches and the Italian codes, reused for every purchase order rather than rewritten city by city.
Stagger the deliveries
Schedule the shipments so that each site receives its consignment in one lot, with pedestals and returns in the same containers as the desks they serve.
Keep a spare finish sample per site
Leave one sample of top and structure at each office: when a location grows, the new desks are matched to the sample, not to memory.
