Two lines carry the same name and they are not the same waiting seat. Social is 26 in deep with the seat at 16 1/8 in; Social Plus is 30 3/8 in deep with the seat at 16 1/2 in and the back at 29 1/2 in instead of 30 3/4. Pedrali describes the Plus as deep and wide, puts elastic straps on the seat as well as the backrest, and — the part that matters when a project crosses over — lists it for hospitality, workspace and corporate and residential, while the standard line stops at the first two.

The rest follows from that. Social runs from 46 7/8 to 98 in with fourteen linear codes, curved modules at 45°, 60° and 90°, a back-to-back island and a turning tablet; Social Plus runs to 112 1/4, 114 1/8 and 116 1/8 in at four seats, and takes a feather cushion of its own, closer to a lounge sofa. When a US client asks for the same seating in a lobby and in a penthouse, La Mercanti writes both lines on the same schedule and marks which rooms take the deeper one.

When it is the right choice

  • Projects that run from a lobby into private rooms: Social Plus is the line Pedrali also lists for residential.
  • Lounges where people sit for a while: 30 3/8 in of depth and a seat at 16 1/2 in on the Plus line.
  • Schedules that mix straight runs and bends: linear modules from 46 7/8 to 116 1/8 in, plus 45°, 60° and 90° curves.

When another solution fits better

  • If the space needs chairs that can be moved: curved modules are not freestanding, linear ones start at 46 7/8 in → Designer Chairs
  • If people work at a table there: the declared seat height is 16 1/8 in → Conference Chairs

FAQ

Why do the AL codes measure 2 3/8 in more than the L codes?
Because they carry a corner element. On the DSO_2AL the linear seat is joined to one corner element and the width grows from 46 7/8 to 49 1/4 in; on the DSO_2A there are two, 51 5/8 in. The corner element is the part the price list calls «corner», and it is why the same seat count comes in three widths: L, AL and A.
Is the fire classification the same on both lines?
The price list index lists SOCIAL and SOCIAL Plus under class 1 IM for any model, and the corner module sheet carries the ministerial type approval for the series. The foam is declared fire retardant to EN 1021-1 and EN 1021-2. Reaction-to-fire certificates are issued by the manufacturer and requested at the time of the order, never afterwards.
How should the covers be cleaned?
Pedrali publishes a routine for each material. Fabric is cleaned with water and mild products, never bleach, solvents or abrasives, and liquids are removed at once so they are not absorbed. Coated leather is wiped with a soft damp cloth and dried. The instructions supplied with the delivered piece take precedence over any general advice.
Two codes share the width of 46 7/8 in. Why?
Because one of them seats twice as many people. The DSO_2P carries two backless seats facing one way, at 23 5/8 in deep and 47.4 lb. The DSO_2X2P carries four, back to back, in the same width, at 82.7 lb. That is why the island usually lands in the middle of a floor and the pouf against something.
How many packages arrive for a four seater?
One. Every Social module travels knocked down as a single package, from 10.9 cu ft on the smaller codes to 30.4 cu ft on the widest. Cardboard is 100% FSC recycled and the bags carry at least 35% recycled plastic. Pedrali asks for assembly by qualified fitters working to its instructions; La Mercanti quotes the fitting crew with the delivery on request, so the modules are opened and built on the same day.

How to clean Social upholstery by the category you ordered

Fabric, coated leather and leather are not cleaned the same way, and the Social order line says which one is on the sofa. A routine to hand the cleaning contractor on day one.

Find the category on the order
Every Social module is quoted against an upholstery category: C, D, E, G, H, N or P. Write that letter on the maintenance sheet, because the routine below changes with it.
Fabric: water first, nothing sharp
On fabric-covered Social modules Pedrali specifies water and mild products only. No bleach, no solvents, no abrasives. Spills are lifted immediately, before the foam underneath can take them up.
Coated leather: damp cloth, then dry
For coated leather Pedrali specifies a microfibre cloth with a neutral detergent, a rinse with water and drying straight after. The same exclusions apply, and the surface is never left wet.
Leather: water only
On leather and hard leather Pedrali reduces the routine to a cloth dampened with water, and asks that the piece be kept away from direct sunlight and heat sources for long periods.
Leave the label with the piece
The instructions delivered with each Social module, and the labels on the cover itself, override every general rule. La Mercanti photographs them and leaves the copy in the facilities file.
