Pedrali prints two upholstery cards, and the two are not one document. The international one carries twenty-nine named collections; the card marked for the U.S. market carries twenty-two. Seven do not cross the Atlantic — among them the whole of category E, a leather range and two collections by named textile designers. On Buddy Oasi, an ottoman for waiting areas, this matters more than it sounds: the indoor seat accepts categories C, D40÷D44, E, G, H and N, so a specifier working from a European sample book can land on a category E that is simply not offered here. The outdoor version is unaffected — it lives in category D and in the two G ranges, and both cards list them.

Everything else is identical on either side of the ocean. The seat is a pine plywood panel moulded with polyurethane foam at 29 kg/m³, upholstered and rated class 1 IM on the indoor version; the ottoman comes 43.3×43.3 in or 78.7×43.3 in, at 15.7 or 17.7 in of seat height, and weighs from 55.3 to 106.9 lb. The Buddy family goes further — the 210-215 ottomans and their 210E-215E outdoor twins, the S versions with a fixed back, the 218 and 219 sofas ordered with armrests or without, the turning tablet, the Buddyhub armchair with its acoustic panel, and Buddyhub Box for two or four. Before a U.S. order is confirmed, La Mercanti checks the chosen fabric code against the American card, because a code that exists in Milan does not always exist in the price file that serves this market.

FAQ

How are the backrests ordered?
On their own line: the 209.3 indoors, the 209E.3 outdoors, one to a carton at 4.1 cu ft. A single island takes one or two of them, so the number of backrests rarely matches the number of islands.
What is different about the outdoor codes?
A waterproof lining sits between the foam and the fabric, and the cover is removable. The leg build is the same, though the outdoor list carries sixteen powder coated finishes against thirteen indoors.
Is a protective cover available?
Yes, and Pedrali sells it by combination rather than by piece: one cover code fits the 206E or 207E with its backrest, another fits the 208E or 209E with its backrest. The covers are made of waterproof PES fabric.
How does the collection ship?
Disassembled, one piece per carton, from 16.1 to 31.3 cu ft depending on size. The backrest travels in its own 4.1 cu ft carton, which is worth knowing when a freight quote is built on cube rather than weight.
Which piece does what: ottoman, island or sofa?
An ottoman 210-215 seats one and moves with a hand. An Oasi island holds a group and turns into a sofa the moment a backrest is placed on it. A 218 or 219 sofa is fixed seating with a back, and it ships in three cartons. The choice is about how the room is used, not about size.

Writing a Buddy order that survives the reorder

Five lines to put on the purchase order so that the same piece can be repeated in three years without a sample chase.

Start with the code, not the name
The Buddy codes follow a grammar: 210-215 for the ottomans, 2xx for the Oasi islands, S for a fixed back, E for outdoors, 218 and 219 for the sofas, BDH for Buddyhub. On the islands, 206 and 207 at 43.3×43.3 in, 208 and 209 at 78.7×43.3 in, each in two heights. Write the number first — the name alone does not identify the piece.
Write the leg finish next to the code
The powder coating reference belongs on the same line as the product code: thirteen finishes are listed indoors and sixteen outdoors, and a line without it will come back as a query from the factory.
State indoor or outdoor in words
The E suffix is one character and travels badly through three systems. Spell out «outdoor version» beside the code so that nobody reads a 209E as a 209 at goods-in.
List the backrests separately
The 209.3 and the 209E.3 are ordered on their own line, one or two per island. Quantities of ottomans and quantities of backrests are not the same number and rarely match.
Write down the cube, not just the count
Each carton is listed by volume, 16.1 to 31.3 cu ft depending on the code, and the backrest cartons count separately on the packing list. Put both numbers on the order: they are what the freight forwarder and the receiving dock read, and what turns a delivery window into a delivery.
