Bespoke: size, colour, finish

The difference between a waiting area people endure and one they use is rarely the chair — it is the grouping. Colina carries the answer in its own declaration: an armchair conceived to work in groups or alone, with an open character that, as Arper puts it, encourages dialogue among colleagues and friends. Set in twos and threes, the generous silhouettes face each other and a lobby stops being a row of seats along a wall: it becomes clusters of conversation.

The family gives the clusters their vocabulary: the tub version with upholstered base in two sizes, the medium on four wooden legs or a steel sled, armchairs and small armchairs, coverings from fabrics to leathers and coated fabrics. Designed by Lievore Altherr Molina in 2014 alongside the Loop modular sofa, Colina serves reception, waiting, lounge corners and homes with one line. For US projects, La Mercanti draws the cluster plan room by room, with delivery times confirmed in writing at order confirmation.

FAQ

What sizes does the tub version come in?
Two declared sizes, both with the upholstered base: the larger for generous lobbies, the smaller where the room speaks more quietly. Same silhouette, two volumes.
Which bases can the medium version take?
Beyond the upholstered base, the medium is declared with four wooden legs or a steel sled — same seat, three different presences on the floor.
Does it fit residential projects too?
Yes — intimate residential spaces are among the declared settings: the same armchair moves from the lobby to the living room without changing language.
Who is the designer behind Colina?
Lievore Altherr Molina, 2014 — the studio of Arper's Catifa family. Colina extends that lineage into lounge and waiting seating.
How do the model numbers map to the versions?
The catalog lists 4300, 4301, 4303 and 4304 across the tub sizes and medium bases: order by number and every revision stays unambiguous.

How to choose coverings for a Colina order without second rounds

Five steps from swatch to signature — matching the declared range of fabrics, leathers and coated fabrics to the life of each room.

Start from the room's traffic
List how each area is used before touching a swatch: the covering follows the life of the room, not the mood of the meeting.
Shortlist three, not thirty
Pick one candidate per family — a fabric, a leather, a coated fabric — and judge them side by side in the actual room light.
Test against the palette in place
Hold the swatches against floors and walls that already exist: a covering chosen in isolation always surprises on delivery day.
Decide once for the whole family
Apply the chosen covering logic across every Colina in the project: one decision, repeated, is what makes a fleet read as a design.
Write the reference into the order
Record the covering reference next to each model number — La Mercanti carries the exact codes through to the confirmed order.
