Anyone who has chased a rolling conference chair across a conference room knows the problem. Cut by Lapalma answers it with hardware: the four castor versions — fixed height, height-adjustable, low or high base — ride on self-braking castors. The chair glides while you steer it and holds its ground the moment weight comes off; it will not drift into the credenza mid-meeting or wander off camera on a video call.

Above the castors sits Francesco Rota's 2013 shell: rigid white or black Baydur with a knife-clean edge, padded inside only or upholstered all over, dressed from a card that runs four fabric categories plus Soft-leather and Valencia eco-leather. The rolling versions share a 23.5-inch base diameter; the adjustable ones travel from a 16.5 to a 20.5-inch seat height, so one chair fits the whole roster. For stiller rooms — visitor and dining — the family also offers sled, wood-leg, four-star and column bases with the same 21.75 by 20-inch footprint.

La Mercanti has shipped Italian seating programs to the United States for decades — door-to-door freight, one contact, samples approved before production.

FAQ

Which Cut works for a hot-desking floor?

The height-adjustable S186-187 covers most rosters: the seat travels from 16.5 to 20.5 inches with a gas column, and the shell wipes clean between users with a damp cloth.

Can the same chair serve dining and desk duty?

That is the family's design brief — Lapalma catalogues Cut for dining rooms and restaurants as well as office and meeting use; you change the base, not the character.

What covering options exist beyond fabric?

Soft-leather hide in seventeen colours and Valencia eco-leather in seventy-two, both over the same padded shell; fabrics span four categories from Hallingdal to Blazer.

Is there a version tested for intensive contract use?

Lapalma declares EN 1728:2012 6.17 and EN 16139:2013 level L2 on two versions — the wood swivel S147-148 and the high adjustable S188-189 — plus the 1 IM fire test with Steelcut and Remix fabrics across the range.

How does the order process work from the US?

La Mercanti sends physical samples first — their cost fully credited at order confirmation — then confirms production and delivery dates in writing and manages freight and customs door to door.

How to build the order file for a Cut program

Nine versions reward a precise order file. Five steps for the purchasing team, from version codes to written confirmation.

Fix the versions

List each Cut by catalogue code — S139 to S193 — matching base type to room: dining, meeting, task.

Choose the philosophy

State inner padding or total upholstery per line item, and white or black for every shell that stays visible.

Name the coverings

Record fabric collection, colour code and category — or leather and eco-leather references — exactly as on the Lapalma card.

Attach the floor plan

Mark quantities per room so Cut deliveries can be staged floor by floor on site.

Close in writing

Request La Mercanti's order confirmation with versions, coverings and dates stated in writing — that document rules the project.
