Measured to the far edge of the cabinet: Ducale by Estel at 82⅝, 94½ or 118⅛ inches wall to wall

Eighty-two and five-eighths, ninety-four and a half, one hundred eighteen and an eighth: those are the inches on Estel’s placement diagrams, and they run wall to cabinet edge, not to where the top stops. The desk top passes over the service unit by 11¾ in, so the footprint is always that much longer than the top you order. Of the modern office desks we bring in from Italy, Ducale is the one where that figure decides the room.
A 70⅞ in top with the P100 unit takes 82⅝ in; an 82⅝ in top takes 94½; with the L205 unit a 106¼ in top reaches 118⅛. The unit is 23⅝ in wide and 22½ in high, with the technical compartment for cables and outlets and the electrified top access on it. Top and leg are 2⅜ in thick in veneer, Eucalyptus or American Walnut, with an optional Pelle Soft band on the user’s side of the top. Estel R&D drew it in Thiene, Vicenza, without an outside designer.
Read by the cabinet, the versions sort themselves out: the P100 unit, 39⅜ in along the desk, or the L205 at 80¾ in; two drawers or a filing rack inside; right or left, written into the code. The desk by itself, 86⅝ × 39⅜ in with its own hatch and cable tray, skips the question. Inside the executive office suite the unit is set at a right angle during assembly, so the L-shaped executive desk is a position chosen on site, not a code.
La Mercanti USA quotes the footprint and not the desk alone: 82⅝, 94½ or 118⅛ inches, wall to cabinet edge.

FAQ
Which woods does the Ducale price list actually name?
Two, and only two: Eucalyptus or American Walnut, written in the column heading for every desk, every top and every service cabinet. The same code covers both, DU100 for the veneer desk whichever wood is chosen, so the wood is a note next to the code rather than a code of its own. Nothing else is declared for Ducale, no lacquer and no third veneer. The leg and the modesty panel are veneered to match the top, and on the version with the Pelle Soft band the wood stays on the visitor’s side of the top.
What does the modesty panel do on Ducale besides hide your knees?
It holds the composition together. Estel’s description is specific: the modesty panel structurally connects the leg of the desk leg to the storage cabinet, so the panel belongs to the frame rather than a screen hung underneath. It comes in veneer, finished to match the top, in both the all-veneer version and the one with the Pelle Soft band; the price list repeats that note under every table of codes. On a drawing, then, the panel is the piece that ties the end of the desk to the cabinet on the right or the left, and it is placed with the cabinet, not after it.
Drawers or a file rack: how is the inside of the Ducale cabinet ordered?
By code, in pairs. The P100 cabinet is DU040 or DU042 with two drawers and DU044 or DU046 with a filing cabinet rack; the L205 cabinet is DU048 or DU049 with two drawers and DU050 or DU051 with a cabinet filing rack. Each pair is right and left. All of them stand 22½ in high and 23⅝ in wide, in Eucalyptus or American Walnut veneer, and the technical compartment for cables and outlets is inside whichever one you pick. The price list stops at the count: two drawers means two drawers.
Which chapter of the Estel catalog is Ducale filed under?
Executive & Meeting, in the Executive & Common Area catalog, where the index lists it between Deck and Campiello: Niemeyer, Altagamma, Grand More, P016, Deck, Ducale, Campiello, Argo. The price list keeps the same order. Beyond that chapter the catalog moves on to vintage tables, storage and cupboards, and reception desks. The chapter matters when you pull the technical data: pages 50 to 53 of the 2019 catalog carry the Ducale presentation and the room photograph Estel published for it, and the price-list pages follow the same grouping.
What is in the Type 4 outlet module Estel offers for Ducale?
Three Schuko-EU power outlets and 2 USB charging ports at 5 V, code GC036, in a black housing 15 × 2⅜ × 1⅝ in, with a 220 V female connector fitted with an interlock. The alternative is Type 1, GC030, where the two extra positions are RJ45 category 6 couplers for data and phone instead of USB. The power lead is a separate code, GC090, 9 ft 2 in long, with a Schuko plug at one end and a GST 18-3 socket at the other. Schuko is the European fitting; the same page of the price list says international standards can be supplied on request, which for a US office is the line to ask about first.
Settling a Ducale desk into the room: air, temperature and light in week one
Estel’s Product Care booklet describes the room a veneered desk with a leather band expects: moving air in the first days, a steady temperature, light kept in check, nothing hot or wet on top. Five steps for the week Ducale arrives.
Air the room first
A Ducale fresh out of its packaging is not odorless, and Estel says so: materials and packing both carry a smell at first. The remedy in the booklet is nothing more than proper air circulation, which disperses the odor quickly. Open the office up for the first days, before the first cleaning and before the first meeting.
Hold 64 to 73 degrees
Estel gives ideal figures for the rooms its furniture lives in: a temperature between 64 and 73 °F and relative humidity between 45 and 60 percent, with regular climate control and air circulation. Veneer and leather are both natural materials, and the booklet puts the climate of the room on the same page as the cloths and the detergents.
Watch the heating season
Warm air from winter heating lowers the humidity in the room, and Estel warns that over time this can cause color changes in the materials or damage to the furniture. If the executive office is the warmest room on the floor, that is where the humidity reading matters most for a veneered top with a leather band.
Keep the sun off the leather
Estel states plainly that a change in appearance after prolonged exposure to sunlight or lamps cannot be predicted or prevented. For the Pelle Soft band the leather section adds its own instruction: keep it away from strong heat and from long periods of direct sun. If the desk looks onto the window, the side of the top that takes the light is worth deciding before the desk is positioned.
Mind what lands on the top
The list of what damages a surface is concrete in the booklet: scratches and dents from bracelets, rings and watches; sharp objects; acids, grease and oils; pets; strong light or excessive heat. The veneer section adds that any hot or wet object can harm the finish, and the leather section says the same. Hot or wet, on its own, is enough.
