Most design studios talk about form, material and intent. Claudio Dondoli and Marco Pocci put something else in writing: their projects must keep an eye on sellability and large-scale commercial viability. In an industry that often treats commerce as someone else's problem, that is an unusually direct thing to say.
The two founded Archirivolto Design in 1983 in Tuscany and specialised in seating — chairs, sofas, stools, office and outdoor pieces. For S•CAB they designed the Mentha collection, which La Mercanti supplies in the United States as part of the workspace range.
The stated goal behind it is simply making beauty accessible: good design that survives contact with a price list.
