Chicago has recognized his work again and again: architect and designer Dante Bonuccelli

Portrait of Dante Bonuccelli, architect and designer honored at NeoCon and by the Chicago Athenaeum

The Chicago Athenaeum handed him its Good Design Award in 2008 and again in 2009; a Silver Award at NeoCon in 2007, then Best of NeoCon in 2009: Chicago has put the name of Dante Bonuccelli on its lists more than once. New York followed in 2007, with a Best of Year honor from Interior Design magazine. The architect behind those honors trained in Buenos Aires, settled in Milan in 1984 and in 1998 founded Avenue Architects, a firm active in architecture and product design whose work spans Australia, Asia, Europe and America. The client roster is broad, from IBM and Philips to Allianz and Sony, and his design consulting work includes Dada and UniFor.

That 2009 NeoCon win went to Genya, an auditorium chair he designed for Lamm. The same company builds Blade System, his line of desks for college classrooms, meeting rooms and auditoriums. On a U.S. campus job, seat counts and floor plans are settled by the design team of record together with La Mercanti.
