Most seating programs bury the decision under options. Catifa Up reduces it to two questions. First: how much comfort? The standard upholstered shell keeps the profile lean; the Soft shell adds a declared double frontal cushion for longer sessions. Second: what kind of motion? A swivel trestle on glides for the conference table, a fixed trestle on self-braking castors, or a five-spoke base with gas lift for the desk. Two answers, one order line — and every combination is legitimate, because Arper declares the shells combinable with all the bases in the collection.

Drawn by Lievore Altherr Molina in 2017 on the lines of the Catifa icon, the chair carries the same silhouette from the boardroom to executive offices, reception waiting, visitor seating and the residential workspace. For US projects, La Mercanti answers the two questions room by room and closes the schedule with delivery times confirmed in writing at order confirmation.

FAQ

Are greasy stains treatable on the fabric versions?
Yes — the care sheet admits dry stain removers for greasy stains, following their manufacturer's instructions closely. Non-greasy marks are dabbed with a clean, well-wrung cloth instead.
What happens to the chairs at end of life?
Arper recommends separating the components by material type before handing them to collection centres, to ease raw-material recovery; failing that, the nearest disposal centre.
What does the extreme level of the intended-use note mean?
Referencing EN 16139, the sheet distinguishes a general level — offices, showrooms, restaurants, banks — from an extreme one that reaches night clubs, police stations and sports changing rooms.
Which finish do the armrests come in?
Aluminum, in the same finish as the base — polished or lacquered. They are an option, and the armrest version is built on a dedicated shell specified at order stage.
What does the sheet say about improper use?
It warns that using the chair as a ladder, sitting on the armrests or applying extreme one-sided loads carries an accident risk — and falls outside the declared warranty.

How to phase a Catifa Up rollout across a growing office

Five steps to bring Catifa Up in over several budget cycles without the floor ever looking half-finished.

Start where clients sit
Begin with the boardroom and the visitor chairs: the rooms outsiders see justify the first cycle and set the standard for the rest.
Hold one covering story
Lock the covering and base finish in cycle one and repeat it in every later order — a phased rollout reads as one project only if the finishes never drift.
Ride the budget calendar
Match each phase to a budget window and book it early: a rollout that never begs for exceptional funds is a rollout nobody pauses.
Keep a running room ledger
One line per room — shell, base, covering, quantity — updated at each phase: the ledger is what makes order four as easy as order one.
Time phases to the calendar
Schedule each delivery into a quiet week and have the dates confirmed in writing at order confirmation, so no phase lands during your busiest season.
