Most guest chairs in a lobby sit at one height and stay there. Waves sits at five. The Diamond, the Trio and the round Conic are 17 inches off the floor; the Parallel drops to 16, the Trapezium to 15, the Hexagon to 13, and the Leaf daybed to 12 inches, with a headrest rising to 27. Push them together – each element hides a magnet in its frame – and the composition reads from the door like a shoreline: high where people wait upright with a laptop, low where they sink in and put their feet up.

That is the whole idea of a collection LaCividina describes as inspired by the sea and by waves that ripple the surface of the water, drawn by Constance Guisset in 2018. It is intended for the waiting area, for lobbies and exhibition spaces, three of its shapes take a small backrest, and wooden tables with hidden power and USB complete it. La Mercanti lays the pieces out on the floor plan, quotes the set on one document and ships it assembled.

How do the pieces stay together?
Each Waves element hides a magnet inside its frame: two ottomans pushed edge to edge hold their alignment and separate again by hand. The magnet set is listed as a separate item.
How long is the Parallel?
Seventy-five and five-eighths inches, 22 and seven-eighths deep, 16 and one-eighth high; with the backrest, on the right or the left, it rises to 22 and seven-eighths.
What does the Leaf weigh?
Forty-nine pounds net, according to the manufacturer; the lightest piece is the Diamond at 26 pounds, the heaviest the Hexagon at 82.
Can I send my own fabric?
Yes, plain fabric 55 inches wide or your own leather, with a sample required. The manufacturer states the yardage per piece, from 3.1 yards for a Diamond to 6.1 for the Trio.
What is the base made of?
MDF in dark gray RAL 7021, the same on every piece: it is the plinth the upholstery sits on, and the only finish offered for it.

How to take Waves from a sample to a specification

Name every shape by its code
Diamond, Parallel, Trapezium, Hexagon, Leaf, Trio, Conic: each Waves piece has a catalog code, and the backrest versions have their own. The schedule lists codes, not nicknames.
Write the backrest side
On the Parallel Waves the backrest is right or left. Fix it on the plan so the wall side matches what gets built.
Choose fabric or leather, then the category
Waves comes in eleven fabric categories and in leather: the line item carries the reference, and a COM fabric carries its yardage and a sample.
Add the magnet sets
The magnets that dock Waves are a separate list item: count one set per joint on the drawing, so the composition arrives able to hold.
Record the reinforced frame
LaCividina declares a frame reinforced for public areas: the wording belongs in the specification as the manufacturer states it, no more.
