Seen from the front door of a lobby, a sofa either faces the person walking in or shows them its back. Lisse can be ordered to do one or the other. LaCividina builds it with the back oriented to the left as code 1620 and to the right as code 1621: two mirror images of the design Sabine Marcelis signed in 2025. The sofa is a curve in plan, never a straight bench, so the two versions do not sit in a room alike. Only the floor plan can say which of them belongs there.

Either hand qualifies as guest seating on a scale most lobbies have to assemble from parts. Lisse runs 132 5/8 in from end to end and is still one object with one line on the purchase order. The seat is set 15 3/4 in off the floor, and the upholstery is a fixed cover, which means the fabric gets decided once and for good. As an Italian lounge sofa it suits the places where people wait without being told how long: a hotel arrival, a law firm’s front of house, the floor outside a boardroom.

Three more entries complete the line, in the order a busy day calls for them. The twin sofa comes first, for the plan that reverses. Next is the medium ottoman, 54 3/4 by 22 7/8 in, for the moment a group arrives and the sofa is already taken. Then the small ottoman, 35 7/8 by 21 5/8 in, for whoever wants to perch close to the desk. Fabrics fall into five price-list categories, and COM is accepted on the manufacturer’s terms. La Mercanti stands at the entrance with the plan in hand and marks which way the back should face.

FAQ

How big is the medium ottoman in the Lisse family?

It measures 54 3/4 by 22 7/8 in and stands 15 3/4 in tall. In plan it is an irregular oval, longer than it is wide, and it is the larger of the two ottomans LaCividina makes to go with the sofa.

Are extra cushions offered for Lisse?

Yes. LaCividina’s price list carries a note for Lisse that reads, in short, extra cushions available. They are an addition to the sofa, not part of it, so mention them when you ask for pricing and La Mercanti will write them into the same quote.

What foam and filling go into the seat?

Polyurethane foam that the manufacturer describes as fire-retardant and shape-retaining, laid in differentiated densities, with polyester fiber on top. “Fire-retardant” is LaCividina’s word; compliance with the code that governs your building is verified on the project, using the manufacturer’s documentation.

Is Lisse built for public spaces or only for light use?

For public spaces. Among the features LaCividina declares for the family is a frame reinforced for public areas, the kind of rooms where seating is occupied all day by people who did not choose it. That statement comes from the manufacturer and belongs in the specification as written.

Who designed the Lisse sofa and ottomans, and in what year?

Sabine Marcelis, in 2025. Lisse is the family she designed for LaCividina, and it consists of one sofa and two ottomans. The manufacturer credits her by name wherever the product appears, and that is how the design should be cited in project documents.

How to get a Lisse sofa from the truck to its floor

A Lisse sofa is 132 5/8 in long and travels under a single code. Five steps to check the route through the building, starting with the elevator, before the order is placed.

Start from the Lisse dimensions

Write down three figures: 132 5/8 in long, 42 1/8 in deep, 27 1/2 in tall. The sofa is listed as one item under one code, so plan the route for the whole length and do not count on shortening it.

Measure the elevator cab

The elevator is where most routes fail. Record the clear opening of the door, then the inside depth, width and height of the cab, and set them next to the three figures of the sofa. If the cab is the problem, look for a freight elevator or a stair.

Walk the path from the curb

Follow the path the sofa will take, from the loading area to the room. Note every door and every corner of the corridors. In plan the sofa is a curve, so check tight corners against the manufacturer’s CAD drawing, not against a rectangle.

Ask how it ships

Packed sizes are not published for this family. Put the question in writing with the order: how the sofa is packed, and how it is delivered. The answer goes to whoever manages the building before a delivery date is discussed.

Have the installer confirm

Hand the measurements and the CAD file to the installer and ask for a clear yes or no on the route. The fabric and the rest of the order can wait until that answer is in.
