Sedus shows se:flair in three pictures: at a desk, at a conference table, in a living room. The shell is the same in all three; what changes is the base. With the five-star polyamide base and casters underneath, it is a task chair, gas-lift adjustable from 15¾ to 20⅛ in. On the four-star aluminum base with glides it is a conference chair that swivels 360° but stays put. On the four-leg solid-wood frame, at a fixed 17⅜ in seat height, it is the chair you put in a den or a waiting area and forget it came from an office catalog.
Among conference chairs the shell is what sets it apart: a high back wrapped in knitted membrane, armrests built into the frame under the membrane, a 2 in upholstered seat that can be membrane or fabric, monochrome or two-tone. The Kinetic-Swing mechanism has no linkage and no tension knob: it reads the sitter’s weight and sets the backrest pressure, opening to 21°. In a boardroom that means eight guests sit down and nobody hunts for a lever.
Who buys which base is easy to say. A home office in a converted bedroom takes the casters, with soft wheels for a hardwood floor; a conference room takes the aluminum glides, felt on wood, plastic on carpet; a lobby or a house takes the wooden frame in natural beech, black beech or ash lacquered natural oak. Model color black or clear white on every base, five membrane colors and five bouclé colors, with a rating of 287 lb on polyamide and aluminum and 243 lb on wood. Plastic glides (code 2800) or felt glides (2801), for the aluminum base and for the wooden frame alike. Sedus assigns felt to non-textile floors such as wood and stone and plastic to carpet. They pull out and push in by hand; on the wooden frame the caps are levered off with a flat tool and the new ones clip on.
A GS mark issued by TÜV Rheinland LGA Products, certificate S 60175815, tested to DIN EN 16139 and DIN 4573 with the load tests run up to 287 lb (130 kg) on the aluminum and polyamide bases. It names the product a conference swivel chair range and is valid until May 12, 2029.
Yes, with its own certificate, number 309861-410, to UL 2818. The chair was tested to ANSI/BIFMA M7.1 and complies with ANSI/BIFMA X7.1 and e3-2019 credit 7.6.1, modeled in a seating environment with a ventilation rate of 24.8 m³ per hour. The certificate runs to October 19, 2026.
No. Sedus lists the covers as not glued into place, the foams as CFC-free, the galvanizing with chrome III and the fabrics as OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified. The environmental product information adds that the chair is made with 100 % green electricity.
A specifier who writes se:flair into a project needs five numbers, and they are all on the Sedus sheet. Five steps to copy them without guessing.
The model number is fr-120 followed by the base: 2415 for the five-star polyamide base on casters, 2214 for the four-star aluminum base on glides, 2314 for the four-leg wooden frame. A specification that stops at se:flair leaves the base to the dealer.
Write 287 lb (130 kg) for the polyamide and aluminum bases and 243 lb (110 kg) for the wooden frame. The figure comes from the GS certificate and from the Sedus sheet, and it is printed on the label of every chair.
Kinetic-Swing, with automatic user-weight recognition, 8° forward rocking and 21° backrest tilt. No tension adjustment is a feature to write down: a shared conference chair needs no per-user setup.
