Return Policy

La Mercanti USA specializes in authentic Italian furniture, most of which is made to order in Italy to your exact specifications. Because of the custom nature of our products and the international logistics involved, our return policy differs from typical retailers. Please read this policy carefully before placing your order.

Made-to-order & custom items: final sale

The majority of our furniture is manufactured in Italy specifically for your order. Once production begins, these items cannot be returned, exchanged, or refunded. This includes:

• All furniture ordered with custom dimensions, finishes, or materials
• Items produced to order by Italian manufacturers
• Products configured to your specifications (leather color, wood type, size, etc.)

Why? Italian artisans begin crafting your piece as soon as the order is confirmed. Custom furniture cannot be resold and represents a significant investment in materials and labor. By accepting our quote, you acknowledge that made-to-order items are final sale.

Order cancellations

If you need to cancel or modify an order:

• Within 48 hours of order confirmation: cancellation or changes may be possible at no charge. Contact us immediately.
• After 48 hours: a cancellation fee of up to 30% of the order value may apply, depending on production status. Once manufacturing has begun, cancellation may not be possible.

To request a cancellation, email info@lamercanti.us with your order number and reason for cancellation. We will confirm whether cancellation is possible and any applicable fees.

In-stock items purchased online

For select in-stock items available for immediate purchase on our website:

• Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery
• Items must be unopened, unused, and in original packaging
• A 25% restocking fee applies to all returns
• Return shipping is the buyer's responsibility
• Refunds are processed within 10 business days of receiving the returned item

To initiate a return, email info@lamercanti.us with your order number and reason for return. We will provide return instructions and shipping address.

Defective or damaged items

All shipments are fully insured. If your furniture arrives damaged or defective:

• Inspect upon delivery: check all packages before signing. Note any visible damage on the delivery document.
• Report within 7 days (or 48 hours for residential deliveries): email info@lamercanti.us with photos and a description of the damage.
• Keep all packaging until we advise next steps.

We will arrange repair, replacement, or refund at no cost to you. See our Shipping Policy for detailed inspection procedures.

Non-returnable items

The following items cannot be returned under any circumstances:

• Made-to-order or customized furniture
• Items that have been assembled, installed, or used
• Items without original packaging
• Items damaged due to misuse, improper handling, or unauthorized modifications
• Samples, swatches, or promotional items

Natural material variations

Italian furniture is crafted from natural materials—wood, leather, marble, stone—that have inherent variations in grain, color, and texture. Minor differences from samples, catalog images, or online photos are normal characteristics of authentic materials and do not constitute defects. These variations are not grounds for return or refund.

Warranty

All products carry the original manufacturer's warranty, typically 2 years for most items (some brands offer up to 5 years). Warranty covers manufacturing defects, not damage from use, mishandling, or improper care. Contact us if you believe you have a warranty claim and we will coordinate with the manufacturer on your behalf.
