Shipping Policy

La Mercanti ships authentic Italian furniture throughout the United States and Canada. Every order includes export-grade crating, fully insured cargo, and professional delivery services. We manage each shipment end-to-end—from factory to your door—so you receive a seamless, predictable experience.

Where we deliver

• United States: all 50 states, with full service options in the contiguous 48.
• Canada: all provinces. We handle customs clearance and can quote duties-included or duties-paid-by-recipient.
• Special locations: remote areas, islands, union buildings, restricted-access sites, or after-hours deliveries may require a custom quote.

Lead times

• Production: 8–12 weeks for made-to-order items, depending on brand and customization.
• Shipping: 4–6 weeks via ocean freight. Air freight available for urgent projects.
• Stock items: ship faster—check availability with us.
• Seasonal note: August factory closures and year-end holidays may extend timelines.

Your quote includes an estimated delivery window. We keep you updated throughout production and transit.

Delivery service levels

• Curbside: delivery to the first safe point outside the building; crate remains unopened.
• Threshold: moved indoors to the entrance or a ground-floor location.
• Room of choice: placed in your selected room (elevator and stair access permitting).
• White-Glove: indoor placement, uncrating, light assembly, and debris removal—ideal for executive offices and conference rooms.
• Professional installation: certified installers for desks, conference tables, modular systems, and partitions. Certificate of Insurance (COI) available on request.

Your quote specifies which service level is included. Upgrades can be added at any time before shipping.

Tracking & communication

Once your order ships, you receive tracking information and regular updates. Before delivery, the carrier contacts you to schedule an appointment window. For questions at any stage, email us at info@lamercanti.us.

Site readiness

To ensure smooth delivery:

• Clear pathways and protect finished floors.
• Reserve service elevators and loading docks in advance.
• Inform us of stairs, long carries, or building access rules.
• Provide COI requirements or building forms during quoting if needed.

Inspection & damage claims

All shipments are fully insured. At delivery:

• Inspect before signing: check crates and cartons for visible damage.
• If no damage is visible: sign the delivery document noting "subject to inspection."
• If damage is visible: photograph the damage, note it on the Proof of Delivery, and keep all packaging.

Report any damage within 7 days (or 48 hours for residential customers) by emailing info@lamercanti.us with photos and a description. We handle insurance claims directly and arrange repair or replacement at no cost to you.

Storage & phased deliveries

If your site isn't ready, we can hold your order at a receiving warehouse or schedule deliveries in phases—by floor, area, or project milestone. Storage and multiple delivery fees are quoted in advance. Share your construction schedule so we can align factory production with your timeline.

Shipping terms explained

International shipping uses standard trade terms (Incoterms) that define who pays for what and when responsibility transfers. Here's what they mean for you:

• EXW (Ex Works): you take responsibility from the Italian factory door. You arrange and pay for all shipping, insurance, customs, and delivery. Lowest product price, but you manage logistics.
• FOB (Free On Board): we deliver to the port of departure. You handle ocean freight, insurance, customs, and final delivery.
• CIF (Cost, Insurance, Freight): we pay for shipping and insurance to the destination port. You handle customs clearance, duties, taxes, and final delivery from the port.
• DAP (Delivered At Place): we deliver to your address. You pay customs duties and taxes separately to your broker or at delivery.
• DDP (Delivered Duty Paid): we handle everything—shipping, insurance, customs, duties, taxes, and delivery. One all-inclusive price, no surprises.

Most La Mercanti quotes are DDP for simplicity. We specify the Incoterm clearly in every quote.

Canada: customs & duties

For Canadian deliveries, we typically offer:

• DDP: we handle customs, duties, and taxes—everything included in your quote. Simplest option.
• DAP: we deliver to your door; you pay duties and taxes to your customs broker separately. May be preferred if you have an established broker relationship.

We clarify the terms in your quote and can provide estimated landed costs on request.

What's not included

Unless specified in writing, the following are outside our scope:

• Electrical connections and data cabling
• Wall mounting or structural anchoring
• Building modifications or construction work

If wall anchoring is required for safety (bookcases, tall storage units), please arrange suitable wall backing before installation day.
